New service for job seekers launched at the Oakwood Centre

In January Wokingham Job Support Centre opened its doors to provide a Woodley based

service for residents looking for work. The Job Support Centre is an independent charity providing people over 20 years old with free and confidential information and advice on employment, job searching and training and career changes.

The Woodley 2020 Plan was developed from extensive consultation with Woodley residents and analysis of objective research. It is intended to help shape the future of the Town to meet its future needs and the local community's vision.

An outdoor gym has been installed in Woodford Park.

Works have started to improve Woodford Park Lake

Woodley Westcoast Sports Club which has been running at Woodford Park Leisure Centre has been awarded Clubmark status.

Woodley Town Council has published its Annual Report for 2009/10.

The Oakwood Centre is now part of the "Local Loo" Scheme - providing toilets for the public.

Following the success of the “Woodley Clean Up Day” in April 2009, another is scheduled for March 2010 as part of a borough wide clean up initiative. This event will take place over two days – 20 & 21 March. 65 volunteers took part last year and the litter collected from the streets of Woodley filled almost 100 sacks. Some of this was also recyclable. All volunteers are welcome to take part and further details will be available on the Council website as the date approaches.

Following a consultation period Reading Buses have announced changes to the bus services in Woodley. These changes will take effect from January 2010.

A new tree has been planted in Woodford Park Nature Garden

If you are aged 60 years and over or 16 years and under, you can register for free swimming at Bulmershe Leisure Centre.
