Woodford Park Facilities & Activities

Friends of Woodford Park (FoWP)

Woodford Park has an active friends group, Friends of Woodford Park, which carries out activities and projects in the park.

Woodford Park Destination Play Area

In June 2022, the Town Council installed a new destination play area in Woodford Park. You can watch a short video about this on our YouTube channel.

Garden of Remembrance

The Garden of Remembrance within Woodford Park was opened in 2000 and provides a place for quiet contemplation.

The Garden is non-denominational and the names of loved ones who are no longer with us can be inscribed on brass plaques which are then placed on wooden posts around the garden. (We can no longer offer engraving on the large stone in the centre of the garden due to lack of space).

If you wish to remember a loved one in this way, please see our Memorials page for more information.

Memorial Ground

Situated next to Woodford Park on Headley Road, the Memorial Ground has been held in trust by the Town Council since 1939 for ‘the recreation and enjoyment of the inhabitants of the Civil Parish of Woodley and Sandford’.

The land was originally bought in 1919, by the former trustees, as a memorial to the men of Woodley who died in the First World War.

In 2018, to commemorate the centenary of WWI, we had the Memorial gates updated and installed panels about Woodley during WWI. You can read more about these HERE.
