Together for Tomorrow: Local Action, Global Impact

Be the Change

Woodley Town Council is proud to launch its Community Climate Action Week on Saturday 15 November, bringing residents together under the theme: Together for Tomorrow – Local Action, Global Impact. The week is a call to action for the whole community to Be The Change; to take part, learn, and discover how local efforts can make a lasting difference on a global scale.

Launch Day: Saturday 15 November

Saturday’s opening day is set to be an inspiring showcase of community spirit, creativity, and conversation.

Be the Change – Community Litter Pick

10am-12pm
Oakwood Centre, Woodley
Take part in Woodley’s Community Litter Pick with Woodley Adopt A Street (WASP), because small actions create big change. All equipment is provided. Volunteers will meet at the Oakwood Centre and then head out in groups to help tidy up Woodley’s streets. By coming together to care for our shared spaces, we reduce pollution, protect wildlife, and show pride in our community. Booking is essential in order to organise groups.

Wear the Change – Charity Fashion Show

1-2pm
Centre Stage, Woodley Town Centre
Step into sustainable style at our fashion show hosted and organised by Thames Hospice Woodley shop, featuring pre-loved outfits from its store and other charity shops in the town centre, with help from Waingels’ students. This exciting event proves fashion doesn’t have to cost the earth. With every outfit, we celebrate recycling, reimagining, and reducing waste. No booking required – just turn up and enjoy! Complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate provided.

Voice the Change – Local Action, Global Impact

3-5pm
Oakwood Centre, Woodley
Join us for a powerful community conversation on climate, featuring Woodley Town Council’s initiatives, advice on how to afford climate change from Citizens Advice Wokingham, and the much-anticipated talk by Professor Chris Merchant, Professor in Ocean and Earth Observation at the University of Reading. Professor Merchant’s presentation, Our Climate Future, will unpack the key science and facts behind global warming, why it matters, and how every voice can help shape change. The event includes a Q&A session and complimentary tea, coffee, and cake. Booking is essential as there are limited tickets available.
