Citizens Awards 2009

Town Mayor, Kay Gilder, presented Citizens Awards to six members of our
community whose work in the town has made a real difference.

Pictured with the Mayor (from left to right) are:
Zoe Jones who works as a volunteer with young people with special needs
supporting them so they can be involved with local youth activities

Paula Broom, a volunteer with the Red Cross and first aider with ambulance
crews at events

Anthony Wheeler who over the years has worked as a volunteer with the
Scouts, Woodley Carnival Committee and Berkshire Blind Society as well as
being a wonderful neighbour

Chas Randle, a local Scout Leader and Red Cross volunteer and trainer as
well as raising funds to provide youth activities for local youngsters

Ken Fostekew who has been the curator of the Museum of Berkshire Aviation,
which is run by volunteers, since 1992

Katherine Hooper who has provided support to young people with special needs
enabling them to take part in trips away and other youth activities

Councillor Gilder said she was thrilled to present the awards on the Town
Council's behalf. Our community would be a poorer place without the work
carried out by people who give freely of their time and make such a
difference to many people.

If you are interested in putting your name down for a plot, contact Joy Smith on 0118 969 0356 or email joy.smith@woodley.gov.uk
